SINGLE LADY
A month after announcing that she and husband Jordan Bratman were divorcing, Christina Aguilera (who turns 30 on Dec. 18) stepped out in emerald Elie Saab for the L.A. premiere of her big-screen debut, Burlesque. The star had another reason to smile about the film: she met her new man, Matt Rutler, on set.
DEMURE DIVA
Aguilera looked just peachy to present at the Golden Globes in January with Burlesque co-star Cher. Her elegant bob and shimmery makeup showed a softer side of the star, though the metallic bodice of her chiffon Versace gown reminded fans that she still had an edge.
ALL THAT GLITTERS
For her gig co-hosting a 2009 New Year's bash in Las Vegas – where she resolved to "continue having the best life ever" – Aguilera looked determined to out-sparkle the Times Square ball, sporting a dazzling black slipdress, studded pumps and a statement necklace.
LET'S BE BLUNT
In 2008, Aguilera attended the Africa Rising Festival in London in a Pucci turtleneck dress and skintight leather pants, despite having had son Max only nine months earlier. "He's completely changed my life," she gushed to PEOPLE in February of that year.
CURLY CUE
For the 2007 Grammys, the pop diva picked an Emanuel Ungaro gown with purple trim and a beige bow. Aguilera went for the gold in a big way – first with her bronzed-goddess skin, and then later with the best female pop vocal performance Grammy she picked up later that night.
RED HOT
The singer went Back to Basics earlier in 2007, pairing the album's '40s feel with a retro-chic look that included platinum waves, curve-hugging outfits and her now-signature red lips. Things with hubby Jordan Bratman were better than ever: her hit Ain't No Other Man was a shout-out to Bratman, and she bragged to Ellen DeGeneres about their "naked Sundays".
BLUSHING BRIDE
Still a newlywed at the 2006 Grammys, the singer went for an elegant white gown, sparkling accessories, and tight pin curls for an outfit that called to mind a modern Marilyn Monroe.
BLUE HEAVEN
Dirrty no more! A just engaged Aguilera showed off her new sparkler but kept her other accessories minimal with her demure, full-skirted blue dress and elegant updo at Elton John's 2005 Oscar Party in L.A.
BRUNETTE BOMBSHELL
Pre-Bratman, Aguilera went out on the town with her assets on display, appearing at a 2004 post-Grammy bash in a plunging, printed top, knit mini and flirty fishnet tights.
RACY AND LACY
After dabbling with brunette dreadlocks for her Dirrty phase, Aguilera committed to the look, sporting brown bangs to go with her mesh-and-lace bodysuit and strappy red heels for the MTV Europe Awards in 2003
THE MINIMALIST
Her 2002 album was called Stripped, and Aguilera seemed to take the title to heart, showing up at the MTV Awards in 2002 in a notorious teeny crossover halter, micro-mini denim skirt and the aforementioned dreads.
SHREDDED FEAT
Just call her Lady Marmalade! Aguilera dressed to impress – we think – in a cut-out velvet frock, major gold accessories and a daring 'do at L.A.'s Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in 2001
'FLY' GIRL
The Best New Artist winner was still the sweet Genie in a Bottle gal fresh out of the Mickey Mouse Club at the Grammy Awards in 2000. She dressed accordingly in a shimmering metallic frock emblazoned with the winged insects, pink strappy sandals and a sleek shag.
